Memorize and Reflect

Romans 12:10-13
"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”

Prayer Direction

Ask God to show you the spiritual connections that he has given to you. Ask him to heal any broken relationships and strengthen healthy ones. Ask for eyes to see those around you who need God’s love and compassion physically and spiritually, and ask for wisdom and courage to meet those needs.

“Live It!” Challenge

Think of someone you could invite into your life and even into your home to “practice hospitality”(Romans. 12:13). Make it a point to invite them and set a date. Don’t just say, “Let’s get together sometime.” Decide a date and time that works for both of you, get out your phone, and lock it into your calendar.

Small Group Discussion

  1. When you have free time, what is one thing you really enjoy doing with another person? Why do you enjoy this so much?

  2. If you are totally honest, what is one thing you do that is not a good use of your time. What can you do to reduce this in your schedule and invest more time in people?

  3. Read: Ephesians 5:15-20. What does it look like to seek to make the most of each opportunity God gives us in a day? What are missed opportunities that you could seek to take advantage of in the future?

  4. Why is Paul contrasting foolishness and knowing the will of the Lord? How can knowing God’s Word and will help us make better use of our time?

  5. Read: 1 Timothy 1:3-7. How can being caught up in controversies, speculation, and false teachings lead us to waste a lot of time? What are some better ways we can use our minds and mental energy?

  6. Read: Luke 10:38-42. What do we learn from Martha’s use of her time? What do we learn from Mary’s use of time?

  7. If Jesus taught that there are some activities that are better and more valuable than others, how can this impact how we plan our days and weeks?

  8. What are one or two ways you use your time well to build healthy relationships, and how can you do more of this?

  9. What are one or two ways you could use your time more effectively, and how can your group members pray for you and encourage you to use this time to build relationships that honor Jesus and bless others?
