Memorize and Reflect

Revelation 2:16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Prayer Direction

Ask for eyes to see the places the enemy is tempting and enticing you and those you love. Pray for power to resist and stand strong. Lift up people in your life who are under spiritual attack from the enemy. Pray, in the powerful name of Jesus, for them to find freedom and victory. Confess areas of sin in your life where there is idolatry, immorality, or compromise on biblical teaching and ask for power to repent and turn from these areas of sinful compromise.

“Live It!” Challenge

Knowing What I Believe – Go on the Shoreline website and review our core beliefs. If there is any area where you don’t think you align, read the related Scriptures with an open heart and consider setting up a time to talk and pray with a pastor about this area of belief.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a time you felt that the evil forces of hell were at work in your life or the life of someone you know. How did you see God move, bring freedom, or help bring victory against the work of the enemy?

  2. Read: Revelation 2:8-11 - Imagine you were a believer in the church of Smyrna and you heard these words read in a church service about your congregation and community. What would you have thought and felt?

  3. Read: Revelation 2:12-17 - Imagine you were a believer in the church of Pergamum and you heard these words read in a church service about your congregation and community. What would you have thought and felt?

  4. What picture of Jesus is painted in these two letters and what does this teach you about the Savior who loves you and lives in you?

  5. What are some of the good and wonderful blessings that God has given you that make you truly rich? What are ways we can thank and praise God for His rich and amazing provision?

  6. Read: Revelation 2:14-16 - Why is false teaching so dangerous and why does a loving God call us to identify and stand against it? How can reading and knowing the teachings of the Bible help us recognize false teaching and resist it?

  7. How can your small group members help you be accountable and faithful in your reading and study of the Bible?

  8. What does a life of faithfulness to Jesus (even in hard times) look like and how can we help each other remain faithful to Jesus in our crazy world?

  9. We all have things we need to repent of and turn away from so that we can faithfully follow Jesus. What is an area in your life or place of temptation that you need to repent of? What step will you take to turn from this and how can your group members pray for you and support you in this process of repentance?
