Prayer Direction
Thank God for each moment of life He gives you, for every ability He has bestowed on you, and for the blessings He has lavished on you. Pray for the power of the Spirit to fill you so you can walk in the light of Jesus and fight against the darkness in the world. Ask God for wisdom to leverage each moment you are given and gift you have for the glory of Jesus.“Live It!” Challenge
Removing Wasted Time – Look at the next week (if you use a schedule, review it closely). Identify two or three things that are time-wasters in your life and replace them with something that honors Jesus and uses your time wisely for His glory.Small Group Discussion
What are signs and signals that someone is wasting time and investing their abilities poorly? Give examples.
What are signs and signals that someone is using their time wisely and investing their abilities in ways that honor Jesus? Give examples.
Read: Ephesians 5:8-13. How has your life changed since you left the ways of darkness and has been walking in the light of Jesus?
What are examples that goodness, righteousness, and truth are growing in the life of a Jesus follower?
What is something that “Pleases the Lord” that you can begin doing in your life? How can your group members pray for you and cheer you on in this area of your life
Read: Ephesians 5:14-18. What lulls us to sleep spiritually? How can we wake up to the will and desires of Jesus and how can we help each other wake up?
What are ways we can make the most of every opportunity in our life (for the glory of Jesus)?
What are some of the things that can numb us to the leading and desires of the Holy Spirit for our lives? How do we avoid and overcome these enticements?
Read: Ephesians 5:18-20. What can we do to seek a deeper and richer filling of the Holy Spirit? What quenches the Spirit’s work in our life and how do we avoid these Spirit-quenching things?
Why does praising God, singing, and nurturing a thankful heart help us walk in the ways of Jesus? How can we increase our praise, thanks, and love for God?
