Memorize and Reflect

"So he reasoned in the synagogue with both Jews and God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there." (Revelation 1:18 )

Prayer Direction

Invite Jesus to be the ruler of every area of your life. Confess where you have resisted giving Him Lordship and rule over your daily life, your attitudes, and your behavior.

“Live It!” Challenge

Honest Evaluation: Make a list of three areas of your life where it is hard to let Jesus have complete control. Write these down and then write down what full surrender to the Lordship and rule of Jesus would look like in each of these areas. What needs to change? What needs to go away? What needs to begin? Take action on at least one or two of these actions.

Small Group Discussion

  1. When you think of a King or a Ruler, what images come to your mind? Do you have good or bad feelings when you think of a Ruler and why do you think you feel this way?

  2. Read: Luke 1:26-38 . If you were in Mary’s place, what do you think you would have been thinking and feeling when the angel gave you this news? How would you have viewed this baby that was coming into the world?

  3. Read: John 14:25-3 . What is the work and activity of the Holy Spirit according to this passage? What is the work and activity of Jesus according to this passage? What do you learn about the Father in this passage?

  4. How do you see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit relating and working together in this passage?

  5. When we talk about the Holy Spirit living in us and guiding us, what does this say about the work of Jesus in us? How do you see the Trinity at work in our lives according to this passage?

  6. Read: Revelation 1:12-18. What do the images in this passage tell you about Jesus? What picture does this paint of the One we call Savior and Lord?

  7. If Jesus is Lord of heaven, life, death, and us, how should this impact the way we walk through a normal day? What needs to change in your life if you are really going to say, with integrity, Jesus is the Ruler of my life?

  8. How can your group members pray for you and help you walk in greater surrender to Jesus as Your Lord?

  9. When you think of a King or a Ruler, what images come to your mind? Do you have good or bad feelings when you think of a Ruler and why do you think you feel this way?
