Prayer Direction

Thank God for his presence, power and love. Pray for the courage to completely trust in Jesus. Pray for the boldness to take the next step in living out the promise of His perfect love driving out fear.


“Live It!” Challenge

Identify one area or barrier in your life that’s keeping you from experiencing God’s presence and power. And just like David did ([bible]1 Samuel 17:47[/bible]), remember that the battle you face today has already been won by the LORD Almighty. Pray for God to give you the boldness to fight that battle with a renewed strength that you’re not alone and a fearless faith in Jesus Christ.

  1. When you hear the word "Fear" what immediately comes to mind?

  2. Read: 1 John 4:18 What comes to mind when you read this promise that “perfect love drives out fear”?

  3. Read: Hebrews 11 Several heroes of faith are mentioned in Hebrews 11, which one resonates with you?

  4. What is faith? How does fear impact faith? (Give an example)

  5. Read: James 1:1-18 How do you typically respond when faced with trials and/or temptations? Give a specific example.

  6. James points out that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Why is perseverance an important ingredient in your spiritual development?

  7. Read: 1 Samuel 17:37, 1 Samuel 17:45, and 1 Samuel 17:47 The author of 1 Samuel is very clear about the central message of the David and Goliath story. What is the running theme that you see in these 3 verses.
