John 17:15 Father, I don’t ask you to take my followers out of the world, but keep them safe from the evil one.

Prayer Direction

Pray for God’s protection over your Christian friends and family members. Ask God to help your church live and walk in unity with each other and with other local churches.

“Live It!” Challenge

Pray for your church leaders – Take time to pray for each pastor at your church and for your church board members. Leading a local church is a challenge in the best of times and a real uphill struggle with all our world is facing today.

Small Group Discussion

1. Why is a prayer for your church, other local churches in your community, and for churches around the world so important?

2. Read: John 17:6 - Why is obedience to God’s Word essential for Christians and how can praying for Christians to know, love, and follow the Bible unleash the power of God?

3. Read:John 17:11 - What are some of the “things of this world” that are causing Christians to compromise or grow weak in faith?

4. How can you pray against these things and how can you pray for Christians (including yourself) to be protected from these enticements?

5. Read: John 17:11-12 - Why is unity in the church so important to God? What message do we send to the world when we are not united as the family of God?

6. What are steps you can take in your own life and as a small group to help build unity in your church?

7. Read: John 17:13 - Why does God delight when his children are walking in joy? What can you do to live with more joy and bring joy to others?

8. Read: John 17:15 - Why is it so important that we are committed to praying for other Christians to stand strong against the work of the enemy? How can prayer break down strongholds and set people free?

9. Read: John 17:18-19 - What is God’s mission for all of His followers? How can we pray for the mission of Jesus to be unleashed through our local church?

10. What is one way you can make your home and life a mission station for Jesus?
