Memorize and Reflect

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly[a] with your God.

Prayer Direction

Pray for eyes to see the needs around you and for the courage to walk toward these needs and not away from them. Ask God to help you feel with His heart and to take action.

“Live It!” Challenge

Identify someone you have not cared for in the past and do something to care for them this week.

Small Group Discussion

  1. What is one way you have gotten involved in helping people in times of need and showing the love of Jesus in the process?

  2. Read: Luke 10:25-37 - what are ways we can be like those who crossed the street to avoid dealing with need and pain in the world?

  3. What are some obstacles Christians face that keep them from helping people in need? How can we overcome these?

  4. Tell about a time God opened your eyes to really see the needs around you. How did you respond?

  5. Why is life “easier” when we avoid getting involved with the needs around us? What do we miss when we live with a heart that is hard toward the needs around us?

  6. What are ways we can invest time in helping people in need? Who is one person you have been walking past who needs you to stop and help with their need?

  7. How can we invest our financial resources to help people in need? Why is this often hard for us to do?

  8. What is one step you will take to help a “neighbor” this week?
