John 1:12 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.Prayer Direction
Pray for discernment and wisdom to identify the lies the world and satan are telling you about who you are. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you see yourself through the eyes of Jesus. Pray for the ability to see others the way Jesus does and not through your own culture-tainted perspective.“Live It!” Challenge
Tell Someone Who They Are – Take time this week to tell a Christian you know who was not at church this past Sunday (in spoken words, a text, a letter, or some form of communication) about who God says they are or could be. You will be amazed at how encouraging this will be for them.Small Group Discussion
What are some of the harsh and hurtful messages the world tells us about ourselves?
Read: Genesis 1:27. If you were to live each moment truly believing you have been made by God and in His image, how would this change how you see yourself?
Read: John 1:12-13. How does a truly loving mother or father see their child? If God is your Father, what does this tell you about the way He views and loves you?
Read: 1 John 4:10. Jesus died in your place, for your sins, and took the full punishment you deserved. What does this passage teach you about your value in the eyes of God? How should this impact the way you see yourself and others?
Read: 1 Peter 2:9-10. Through faith in Jesus, we have full access to the very throne room of God and we are made His royal priests. How does it feel to know that you can have full access to the very throne room of God through faith in Jesus?
Read: John 15:15-16. What does it mean to say that we are friends of God? How have you experienced this friendship throughout your life?
