Prayer Direction

Thank Jesus for leaving the glory of heaven and choosing to come to dwell among ordinary and sinful people. Give Him praise for staying with us even today. Ask Jesus to help you recognize His presence with you all year long…every day! Pray about who you will invite to the Shoreline Christians series (remember, you can invite them to join you online).

“Live It!” Challenge

Say It…Merry Christmas! - Start telling people “Merry Christmas” right away and keep saying it all month. If they look at you a little funny or ask why you are saying this at the start of December, tell them that you are planning to celebrate the coming of Jesus all month and if that goes well, you might just do it all year long.

Small Group Discussion

  1. What is one of your best Christmas memories and what made it so special?

  2. Read: John 1:1 - How is Jesus both the wisdom of God and the one who brought heavenly wisdom to us?

  3. Why does it matter that Jesus was fully God? How would our Christian faith change if Jesus was just a good man and moral teacher?

  4. Tell about a time you experienced Jesus being “God with you” and his presence and power were clearly felt.

  5. Read: John 1:3 and John1:10 - Tell about something that Jesus created that you find amazing and wonderful. How does your love for Jesus grow when you realize that He made everything in the universe?

  6. What are ways we can care for, nurture, and protect the amazing and beautiful world God has made? Why should Christians be the most careful people when it comes to taking care of creation?

  7. Read: John 1:4-5 and John 1: 9-10 -What are some of the things that can make the world a dark place? How can Jesus bring light to these specific situations and how can we partner with Him in shining His light?

  8. Read: John 1:12-13 - What has Jesus done to show us the way to the Father? How can we share this story of God’s love during this Christmas season?

  9. Who is one person you are praying will come to faith in Jesus and how could you reach out to this person during the Christmas season?

  10. Why is grace with no truth dangerous? What harm can come when we hold to the truth but show no grace? What are ways we can live with a balance of grace and truth?
