Thank Jesus for giving His life on the cross. Praise Him for being your Good Shepherd who leads you to green pastures. Pray for power to resist the enticements of the enemy and for the power of Jesus to set you free from any bondage you are in.“Live It!” Challenge
Remembering:Take time to reflect on your life as a follower of Jesus. In the times you have pursued your own desires and set God’s will aside, how has this impacted the abundance of joy and peace you experience? In the times you have set aside your desires to follow the will of God, how has this increased the joy, peace, and richness of your life? You might want to make a list of these experiences and reflect on these.Small Group Discussion
When you think of abundance, what pictures and ideas come to mind?
When God seeks to give you things in abundance, what do you believe God most wants to give you in greater and greater measure?
What are some of the dangers we might face if we think of abundance only (or primarily) in terms of material things?
Read: John 10:7-11
Jesus wants us to experience life to the full, an abundance of heavenly blessings. What are ways that Satan, the enemy of our souls, seeks to steal, kill, and destroy?What are some of the tactics you have seen the enemy use against you and the people you love?
How can you resist and fight the attacks of the enemy as you seek to live the life God intended for you?
Read: Matthew 16:24-26
Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves and sacrifice as part of following Him. How does sacrifice and surrender lead to a more abundant life?How have you experienced a more full, Christ-centered, and abundant life as you have learned to surrender to Jesus and His leading in your life?
What is one area in your life, as you head into the New Year, that you need to surrender to Jesus so that you can walk more closely with Him? How can your group members pray for you and encourage you as you seek to surrender more fully to God in this area of your life?
