Ask God to give you wisdom to see where you are allowing the lies of the enemy to impact your life. Confess where you are believing and following the lies of the enemy. Pray for the power of God’s Holy Spirit to help you resist and run from lies.“Live It!” Challenge
Meditating on the Truth – Identify one lie the enemy is telling you (that you are believing and that is harming your life). Find five Bible passages that speak truth against this lie. Memorize one of those verses and let the truth of God’s Word guide you to turn from the lie and live for Jesus.Small Group Discussion
What are some of the big lies that seem to be accepted in our culture and society? What makes these lies so acceptable to so many people.
Read: Genesis 1:1-7. What do you learn about the lies and tactics of the enemy in this passage?
How does the enemy make things that are dangerous, hurtful, and spiritually damaging seem good and enticing? Give a couple of examples.
What can we do to identify and name the true dangers of the sins that look so delicious? How can we help the next generation learn to identify the costs and consequences of sin before they end up paying a high price?
Read: Genesis 3:8-13. What were some of the immediate and painful consequences of Adam and Eve’s sinful choice?
How have you seen deep and harmful consequences to sins that people thought were not a big deal?
Give examples of how sin can push us away from the care, love, and grace of God.
Give examples of how sin can push us away from the people we love. How can we seek healing from this separation?
How does Jesus restore and heal us from the consequences of sin?
How can your group members pray for you and encourage you as you seek to run from sin and toward the gracious arms of God?
