Memorize and Reflect
Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. (Lamentations 3:40)
Take time in the coming week to pray for: • The power of God’s Holy Spirit to fill you and give you a new passion for the Bible • Awareness of where the enemy is seeking to attack your life or those you love • Discipline to read the Bible, know the truth of God’s Word, and follow it with passion
“Live It!” Challenge
My Next Step of Bible Study: As we come to the end of this four-week series on Biblical Engagement, commit to a next step. Write out a personal Bible study plan (What will you read in the Bible, what other resources can you use to develop your learning, and how will you record your learning). Then, share this with one or two people who can pray for you and check in on how you are doing with this commitment.
Small Group Discussion
How have you experienced the power of God being released from the truth and inspiration found in the Bible?
Read: Ephesians 6:10-17. What does this passage teach us about the spiritual battles all Christians face and the nature of our enemy?
What do you learn about the defensive armor we are called to wear and also about the offensive weapon God has given us?
What are specific and practical ways you can take on the defensive armor of the Spirit? How can you become more proficient and powerful in your use of God’s Word in the spiritual battles you face?
Read: Matthew 4:1-11. What is the nature of the three temptations that Satan launched at Jesus? How does Satan still use the same tactics and points of attack with us?
How did Jesus respond to these attacks and what can you learn from the example of our Savior?
Read: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. What are some of the strongholds that Christians face that we are called to demolish and tear down? What are ways we can use the Bible in this process of destroying demonic strongholds?
What is one area of spiritual battle you face and what are one or two Bible passages you could memorize as you seek to speak truth against the lies of the enemy?
