Memorize and Reflect

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. ([bible]2 Peter 3:9[/bible])

Prayer Direction

* Give thanks for our past, remembering God’s faithfulness. * Thank God for those who have served and led in the past. * Pray for ears to hear God’s call to reach out to those who do not yet know of God’s love. * Pray against the tactics of Satan to block growth in the Kingdom. * Ask God to lead us to a level of financial generosity that pleases Him.

“Live It!” Challenge

Dream Big-Take time in the coming week to memorize Acts 1:8- But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Begin praying for a heart to love as big as the heart of God and a mind to dream God-sized dreams. Ask God to capture you with His dream to reach people all over the world with the saving power of Jesus Christ.

Small Group Discussion

  1. What are ways God is using Shoreline Community Church to share the love, presence, and message of Jesus with people in our community?

  2. What are ways God is using Shoreline to share the love of Jesus in other places in our world?

  3. Read: Acts 1:1-9
Why do you think Jesus called His followers to wait and not go out until they were filled with the Holy Spirit of God?

  4. If we try to do the work of God in our own power and wisdom, what are some of the possible negative consequences we might face?

  5. The disciples were still looking for political power and national influence as the route to changing the world. What are some of the ways Christians today get caught up into this same thinking?

  6. Jesus was clear that the way to change the world is through Spirit-filled preaching and declaration of the Gospel (the message and person of Jesus). What are ways that ordinary Christians can share the message of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection and the hope that is found in Jesus alone?

  7. Read: Acts 1:7-8 and 2 Peter 3:9
How big is the scope of God’s love and plan to reach the world? How can Shoreline Church continue and grow in our commitment to engage in God’s mission to reach out from where we are to the ends of the earth?
    · Jerusalem (right were we are, our homes and neighborhoods),
    · Judea (Our surrounding community),
    · Samaria (The tough places that many people avoid),
    · The Ends of the Earth (Global Outreach).

  8. How are you, personally, engaging in God’s dream and mission to reach the world with His love? How can your group members pray for you as you continue in this place of ministry and Spirit-led service?

  9. Where is a place of world-impacting ministry (in your Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and ends of the earth) that you can step deeper into prayer, service, and engagement?

  10. Is there a service project you can do as a Growth Group to help share the love, compassion, and gospel of Jesus in our community? What action can you take together?
