John 10:10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Prayer Direction
Pray for a mind to comprehend the reality of spiritual warfare and the existence of the enemy of our souls. Pray for eyes to recognize and resist his schemes and tactics. Pray for a heart humble enough to admit your vulnerabilities and weaknesses and recognize your need for God’s protection. Invite God to inspire you to become more proficient in His Word, more passionate in prayer, more connected in a Christ-like community, and more confident in walking with Jesus and fulfilling His call in your life.“Live It!” Challenge
Going to Higher Ground – Take time every day for the next week to engage in God’s Word and pray specifically against the tactics of the enemy over yourself, your family, your co-workers/classmates, and Shoreline Church. Do this as best you can in a quiet space away from distractions (including your phone). Don’t be surprised if the enemy tries to discourage you from doing this or distracting you when you do.Small Group Discussion
Tell about a time you experienced an attack from our spiritual enemy.
What did you learn from that engagement/battle, and how have you grown as a follower of Jesus?
Read: Genesis 3:1-7. What do we learn about the enemy’s tactics in this passage? How did Eve (and Adam) respond to the enemy’s tactics?
Read: Matthew 4:1-11. What do we learn about the enemy’s tactics in this passage? How did Jesus respond to the enemy’s tactics?
As you consider these two different encounters with the enemy, how have you experienced Satan’s tactics in your own life? Share what you learned.
Read: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. What are some of the spiritual weapons we have at our disposal as Christians? How can you employ them when facing spiritual battles?
Read: Ecclesiastes 4:12. How has being connected with other Christians helped you stand firm in your faith and find strength in the battle? How has praying for one another been a powerful weapon for you and this group?
Read: 1 Corinthians 16:13. What are ways we can be disciplined in our spiritual walk to be ready to fight against the schemes of the enemy?
How is the enemy scheming against you (what tactics), and how can this group pray for you amid this battle?
