Memorize and Reflect

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19)

Prayer Direction

* Give thanks for our past, remembering God’s faithfulness. * Thank God for those who have served and led in the past. * Pray for ears to hear God’s call to reach out to those who do not yet know of God’s love. * Pray against the tactics of Satan to block growth in the Kingdom. * Ask God to lead us to a level of financial generosity that pleases Him. * Invite the Holy Spirit to help us step out in faith as we hear God speak.

“Live It!” Challenge

One Defining Moment: All of us have had moments where God has moved our hearts, shaped our lives, and moved us in powerful ways. Take time this week to reflect on your journey with Jesus and your connection at Shoreline Church. Identify a moment when God has moved in your life at a worship service, retreat, in a Growth Group, at a Shoreline event, or as you have interacted with a friend from Shoreline. Share this “Defining Moment” with one person in the coming week. And, if you are willing to do so, write a brief reflection about this defining moment and send it to our communication team so we can share it with others!

Small Group Discussion

  1. Share a defining moment from your time at Shoreline. A defining moment is a time when God has moved in your life, you have felt His presence, you have learned something transformational, or your life has been changed in some way by the power of God (If you are new to Shoreline, share about your experience here so far).

  2. Watch: Called Video for Week 1
Tell about a time God called you to take a step of faith to risk and to follow Him boldly. How did remembering God’s faithfulness in the past help you take steps forward in following God’s will for your future?

  3. Read: Joshua 4:1-9
God had parted the Jordan River and finally brought the people into the Promised Land they had dreamed about for the past forty years while wandering in the desert. Why do you think God called them to stack stones?

  4. What is the value of taking time on a regular basis to remember God’s faithfulness in the past? What are some dangers if we fail to remember how God has moved, provided, and led us in the past?

  5. We don’t stack stones, but there are ways we can set up reminders to look back and remember God’s faithfulness. What are some practical ways we can establish reminders to help us remember to remember? Try to come up with a list of 5-10 triggers to help us remember God’s past faithfulness.

  6. Read: Luke 22:14-20 and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
When Christians gather to celebrate communion, what are we remembering? Why is it critical for us to remember these things on a regular basis?

  7. Tell about one story from the life of Jesus that inspires and encourages you to live and love more like Jesus did.

  8. How does remembering the sacrifice and death of Jesus impact how we live our lives today?

  9. How does remembering the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over sin, death, hell, and the devil impact how we live our life today?

  10. How has God been faithful to you in the past year?

  11. How has God been at work in the ministry of Shoreline Church over the past twenty years? How should this impact the way we look at the future of Shoreline?
