Ask God to help you have a positive and godly influence on the next generation. Pray by name for 2-3 young people God has placed in your life and ask the Holy Spirit to use you to help them grow in faith. Ask God to help you live in a way that reflects the heart of Jesus so others can learn just by watching your life.“Live It!” Challenge
Fight the Good Fight – Read Ephesians 6:10-20. Ask God to give you eyes to see the specific spiritual battles you are facing and power to stand strong against the enemy.Small Group Discussion
Tell about a strong and godly leader God placed in your life and how they have been an example of leading like Jesus.
Read: 1 Peter 5:1-2. How does our leadership and influence change when we do it out of sincere and positive desire and not just out of duty or compulsion?
Read: 1 Peter 5:2. If a leader is only motivated by personal gain and is never joyfully generous in their leadership, how will this impact the people they lead over time?
Read: 1 Peter 5:3. If a person leads others through both words and example, how will this make their influence more powerful than a leader who only tells people what to do? Share about a person in your life who has had a positive impact on you because their words and life really matched up.
Read: 1 Peter 5:4. Why is it so important that Christian leaders also be passionate followers of the Savior? What can happen when a person stops following Jesus closely but continues to serve in a role of Christian leadership?
Read: 1 Peter 5:5-6. When you see a leader who is filled with pride (rather than honest humility), why is it harder to follow a person like this?
Read: 1 Peter 5:8-9. What are some of the ways you see the devil “prowling around like a predator” in our world and culture today?
What are practical ways we can resist the enticements of the enemy of our soul and stand strong against the temptations we all face?
If you could meet with a church leader and give them one thought of wisdom from this passage in the Bible, what would you share?
