Revelation 3:19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.

Prayer Direction

Ask the Holy Spirit of God to show you where you have hidden sin and practices that do not honor Jesus. Pray for power to turn from these, confess them to Jesus, and live in new ways. Thank Jesus for His death and resurrection and the hope he gives for you to walk away from sinful patterns and behaviors.

“Live It!” Challenge

A Little Help from a Friend – Any time we seek to walk away from sinful patterns in our past, there will be a spiritual battle. We can’t fight these alone. Ask at least one trusted friend to pray for you as you seek to live in new and godly ways and invite them to keep you accountable in this specific area of your spiritual growth.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a time you turned from a sinful pattern, how Jesus helped you, and how this process led to deeper joy and greater freedom in your life.

  2. Read: Revelation 3:7-13. How have you seen God open doors in your life and how has God been glorified through these moments? How have you seen God close a door…and later you were thankful for God’s wise leading in your life?

  3. When Jesus says, “Hold on to what you have” what do you think He is talking about? What are specific ways we can hold on to the good things God has given us?

  4. What are some of the new names we receive when we place our faith in Jesus? Why is it so important to remember who Jesus has made us through faith in Him?

  5. Read: Revelation 3:14-22. What are some of the signs that a Christian is becoming lukewarm and is no longer passionate and fired up about their faith?

  6. What are some of the specific and practical things we can do to heat up our faith and grow more passionate in our relationship with Jesus? How can your group members pray for you as you see to raise your spiritual temperature and grow your love for the Savior?

  7. Read: Revelation 3:17-18. Why is it so important that we honestly evaluate who we really are (without Jesus)? How does Jesus make us rich, pure, and whole through His sacrifice on the cross and the glory of His resurrection?

  8. Why is loving discipline needed for all children? How does God show His love for us with tender but firm discipline?

  9. Read: Revelation 3:20-22. If you have opened the door and invited Jesus into your life, what are some of the ways He has entered your life, given you victory, and spoken to you?
