Memorize and Reflect
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:7-9)Prayer Direction
Pray that we would be faithful in the little things. That our gracious Lord would give us the daily strength and endurance to remain faithful.“Live It!” Challenge
Choose one regular discipline to begin or renew (walking, reading, expressing, gratitude, giving, saving, etc.) What one area of your personal life could see the greatest long-term benefit, from faithfully bringing yourself to a new discipline or habit?Small Group Discussion
Why are most people drawn to the illusion of the “overnight success” and the “quick fix”?
Have someone in your group tell the story of The Tortoise and The Hare. What universal principal does the ancient fable tell us?
Samuel devoted his life to traveling a “circuit” from Bethel to Gilgal to Mizpah (1 Samuel 7:15-16). What are some of the challenges of committing to this type of faithful, consistent, “circuit”?
Can you give an example of a time you received enormous long- term benefit by faithfully “chipping away” at something over a lengthy period of time?
Think of a person who impacted your life through their faithful presence. How long have you known them? What impact did they have on you?
What one area of your personal life could see the greatest long- term benefit from the faithful practice of a discipline or habit?
Proverbs 30:25 illustrates “ant power”, "Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer..." This back and forth redundancy of the ant is a powerful image – but it can be monotonous. Is there a current responsibility you have that requires faithful “ant power”?
Read: Galatians 6:9, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up". Is there an important area of your life where you are growing weary and are tempted to “give up”?
