Memorize and Reflect

Colossians 1:9-12 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

Prayer Direction

Ask God to remind you of His grace and mercy towards you as your Heavenly Father. Ask Him to show you how you can grow more like Jesus. Pray that you would take bold steps to grow in that area.

“Live It!” Challenge

Checking Your MPGs- This week commit to going to the Shoreline website and taking one or more of the three different Spiritual Growth Assessments (Markers, Pathways, Gifts) offered there. Choose the option to meet with Shoreline staff leader or share your results with a friend. Put into practice what you learn.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Is there an area of your life that you have seen some real signs of growth (maturity) over the last 5-10 years? What contributed to your growth in that/those areas?

  2. Why is spiritual growth so often overlooked in the life of a follower of Jesus? What makes it so difficult to assess?

  3. Read: Ephesians 4:11-15. As you reflect on these verses, what is the goal of Christian spiritual growth and the service offered to the church?

  4. How does this growth in maturity both build and protect the church?

  5. Have you ever determined what your spiritual gifts are? If so, what did you learn and how have you stepped into using your gifts for the glory of Jesus?

  6. Read: Mark 1:35-42. What different ways do you see Jesus express His love for God? Jesus both spent time in prayer in solitude, yet expressed deep compassion for a man with leprosy.

  7. How do you best experience God in the rhythm of your normal days and week?

  8. What is one step you would like to take this week to grow spiritually and how can this group pray specifically for you as you take that step(s)?
