Memorize and Reflect

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. ([bible]Hebrews 10:24-25[/bible])

Prayer Direction

Thank God that He has adopted you into His family of faith and that you have brothers and sisters in faith who love you and walk through life with you. Ask God to help you discover, develop, and use your spiritual gifting for His glory and to bless others! Invite the Holy Spirit to teach you humility so that you can receive challenges and correction from Christians who love you.

“Live It!” Challenge

Dare To Ask - Take time in the coming week and ask the following questions of one or two Christians you love and respect: 1) Do you see an attitude in me that does not seem to reflect the heart of Jesus? How do you think I can make adjustments to more please Jesus in this attitude? 2) What is an area of my life where my actions need to more fully honor God and reflect that I am a follower of Jesus? What changes can I make to live in ways that more honor Jesus?

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about one memory from your time being part of the church that has blessed your life and brought you joy.

  2. What is one heartache or struggle you have faced being part of a local church?

  3. Read: 1 John 3:1 and 1 John 3:16-18 If we really see other Christians (in particular, people in our local church) as our family members, how might our attitude and actions toward them change? What makes it hard for us to view other Christians as brothers and sisters?

  4. Read: 1 Corinthians 12:12-26 What are some of the similarities between a physical body and the church as a body? Why is this such a great metaphor for us to use as we think of the church and how we fit in the church?

  5. What are some of the ways we can exclude or disconnect ourselves from the church and why is this harmful for us (and the church)? What are some of the ways we exclude or disconnect other people from the church and why is this harmful for us (and the church)?

  6. Read: Galatians 6:1-2 Why are many Christians fearful of confronting others in their sins and struggles and pointing out that they are on a dangerous path? Why is it important that we get past our fears and love each other enough to speak the truth and help people change?

  7. If you could ask your growth group members to pray for you and keep you accountable in one area of your life, what would it be? How can they pray and help you follow God more fully in this area of your life?

  8. Why is it good to hear sermons that challenge you, convict you, and even make you uncomfortable? How should we respond when we face these moments of conviction?

  9. Read: Revelation 4:10-11 and Ephesians 3:20-21 Why is it important that we always remember that the church exists, first and foremost, to bring glory to God? What dangers will we face if we believe the church exists mostly to please us and give us what we want?
