Memorize and Reflect
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)
Thank Jesus for His willingness to humble Himself and come to the earth fully man and yet fully God. Thank Him for His model of humble service as both the Suffering Servant and as the Son of God. Ask Him to show you areas in your life that are holding you back from completely following Him. Ask Him to also show you ways to better serve Him, His church, and the people He has placed in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the courage and strength to take the next steps in surrendering and serving Jesus.
“Live It!” Challenge
Not to Be Served but to Serve: Jesus proclaims to His followers that He Himself “did not come to be served, but came to serve” (Mark 10:45). This week, write down one specific way that you could model Jesus’ call to serve in your family, in your community, at your church, and in your workplace. Pray over this and then do it.
