Memorize and Reflect

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. (Psalm 3:3)

Prayer Direction

Thank God that He never leaves you, not even in the darkest days and most difficult storms. Thank God for the times He has protected you…even the times you did not notice. Ask God to help you tune into Him and hear His voice when He answers your prayers.

“Live It!” Challenge

Bring the Joy: Identify one area in your life where joy has been waning or non-existent. Take 3-5 minutes every morning for the next week and ask God to bring you joy in this situation, relationship, challenge, or whatever it is. Keep a list of ways you experience more joy in this area of your life over the coming week.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Do you have a favorite Psalm? If so, why is this Psalm meaningful to you?

  2. Why are the Psalms so helpful in hard times and the storms of life? If you have been following the video devotions through Psalms over the past two months, how have these reflections helped you in this season?

  3. Read: Psalm 3. How does this Psalm, other Psalms, and the whole story of the Bible make it clear that people of real and deep faith will still face hard times and encounter storms in their life? Give examples of people in the Bible who were faithful but still suffered hardships.

  4. What are examples or stories of how God protects and sustains His people in the storms (from the Bible, modern history, or your life)?

  5. Tell about a time you were stuck, feeling hopeless, or trapped, and God showed up and delivered you? Or, tell a story about someone you know who experienced God’s amazing deliverance.

  6. Read: Psalm 4. Tell about a time God clearly answered a prayer you lifted up to Him

  7. What are ways that God shines His face on His children? How have you experienced this?

  8. How is it possible to have joy, even in a storm? What helps us find joy in the hard times?

  9. What would you say to a person who believes they can never have peace until everything in their life is in a perfect condition? Why can Christians live in peace even in storms?

  10. What is a storm you are facing right now and how can your group members pray for you to experience the peace and joy of God, even in this challenging time?
