Memorize and Reflect

But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (Daniel 3:18)

Prayer Direction

Thank God for the times he has helped you stand strong in the storms of life. Express your faith and confidence in Jesus’ love, grace, and sacrifice on the cross for your sins. Pray for courage to hold to Jesus and your faith no matter what the world throws at you.

“Live It!” Challenge

You Are With Me: Think back over the past twelve months. How has God been with you in the hard times? What furnaces have you been in and how have you felt God’s protection and presence of God with you right in the middle of the flames? Reflect on these times and thank God that He was with you then, now, and forever!

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a time you went through pain, loss, or trouble and describe how God was with you in the furnace of that time?

  2. What are some of the idols our world offers for us to worship and what are ways we bow down to them and compromise our faith? Why does God care so much about us refusing to bow to these idols?

  3. Read: Daniel 3:1-7. How did the people of Daniel’s day respond to the command that they bow down and worship the idol and why do you think they responded this way?

  4. What are examples of ways people today bow down to the pressures of this world (and our culture) to conform?

  5. Read: Daniel 3:16-18. What is surprising or shocking about the way these three young men responded to the king’s demand that they bow down? What are examples of ways we can say no and refuse to bow down to the demands of this world (that do no honor Jesus)?

  6. Read: Daniel 3:24-30. What were the good results that came out of this situation where God’s people refused to compromise and bow down?

  7. Tell about a time you stood firm on your faith and refused to compromise. What blessings and good things came out of your commitment to take a stand for your faith?

  8. What is one area of life and faith that you sometimes feel the enemy seeks to get you to compromise? How can your group members pray for you and keep you accountable to fight the good fight and stand strong for your faith?

  9. Tell about a time you went through pain, loss, or trouble and describe how God was with you in the furnace of that time?
