Memorize and Reflect

Acts 1:11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Prayer Direction

Thank Jesus for the glory of His resurrection and ascension to heaven. Give Him praise that even today He intercedes for you and cares for you in so many ways. Pray for eyes to see and a heart to be aware that He is with you and is present, powerful, and still at work!

“Live It!” Challenge

Get Swept In – Too often we get excited about things like a new restaurant, a sports team, or some show we enjoy watching. Pray for God to sweep you into the glory and wonder of His presence with you each day. Ask God to help you get swept into the joy of worship and the privilege of prayer.

Small Group Discussion

  1. What is something that really fires you up and gets you excited and verbal about it (Sports, a hobby, great food?) Why do you feel comfortable expressing your passion and excitement about this specific thing?

  2. Why do you think that so many Christians are cautious about being overly verbal or excited about their faith? What could change this cautious nature in some believers?

  3. Read: Luke 24:50-53. What might have been going through the minds of the disciples as Jesus was ascending and going back to heaven? (About Jesus, about themselves, about their future?)

  4. Why do you think the ascension of Jesus moved the disciples to worship and praise God?

  5. Read: Acts 1:1-11. Jesus came to bring a spiritual kingdom and to make a way to eternity with Him. What were some of the misconceptions and wrong ways of viewing why Jesus came that were still in the hearts of the early disciples?

  6. Jesus’ ascension gives a vision of how He rules and reigns in the universe. What are ways we can submit to the rule and reign of Jesus in the flow of an ordinary day?

  7. Jesus intercedes for you, right now at this moment. How does it make you feel to know that the Lord of the universe has you on His mind and he cares about your life?

  8. The Bible is crystal clear that Jesus will come again and make all things right. How does this bring hope and confidence to you in the hard times of life?

  9. Because Jesus ascended and is present with us today, we are never alone. Tell about a time when you really felt the presence of Jesus when you were alone. How did Jesus being with you change the situation and how you felt about it?

  10. Read: Acts 1:8. Who are some of the people God has placed in your life that you love but are far from Jesus? What are ways you can partner with God in seeking to show this person the love, grace, and truth of Jesus?
