John 14:3
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Prayer Direction

Thank Jesus that He is victorious today and that He will win the final victory over evil in the future. Pray for courage and deep resolve to follow Jesus and serve Him no matter what you face in this life. Ask God to give you peace and freedom from anxiety and worry because of what Jesus has done and the victory He has already won.

“Live It!” Challenge

Living in the Victory – Make a list of various ways you have seen Jesus win a victory in your life (For you and all of His people). This can include what the Bible teaches, what you have experienced, and ways Jesus has delivered and set people you know free from sin, death, and judgment. Read through this list and let the past victory of Jesus give you assurance of His future triumphs and ultimate victory over sin, death, the grave, hell, and the enemy.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Christmas is when we remember the first coming of Jesus. What is one fond memory you have of Christmas? How do you picture Jesus, the King, on that first Christmas based on the biblical account found in the gospels?

  2. Read: Revelation 7:9-10. How do you picture Jesus when He comes a second time? This is the same Jesus, but how are his first and second coming distinctively different?

  3. Read: Matthew 24:15-21. What kind of picture does Jesus paint of what the world will be like when He returns again?

  4. What warnings does Jesus give His people in this passage and other Bible texts that talk about His second coming?

  5. Read: Matthew 24:29. What are some of the cosmic signs and shaking that will accompany Jesus's second coming? How will this impact people living on earth at that time?

  6. If a person says they know when Jesus will return (or writes a book about it) what can we know about this person and their predictions? Why do you think we are so motivated to figure all of this out?

  7. Read: Revelation 19:19-21. What do we learn about the power of God over the devil in the Bible, and how should this impact our confidence and courage?

  8. Read: John 14:1-4. Why do you think Jesus spoke these words to His followers? How should these words impact our hearts and lives today?
