Memorize and Reflect

Luke 24:44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

Prayer Direction

Pray for deep confidence in the Word of God and the reality that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Ask the Holy Spirit to grow your peace with each passing day. Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you, lead you, and empower you!

“Live It!” Challenge

Reflecting on the Prophecies about Jesus – Take time this week to do all of the daily readings. These are from the Old Testament and each one contains prophecies of the coming Messiah and Savior (Jesus). Make a list of every prophecy you see in these passages and thank Jesus for being the fulfillment of all the Law and the Prophets in the Old Testament.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a time when you were surprised in a way that was shocking or even fear-inducing. How can this kind of moment be unsettling?

  2. Read: Luke 24:30-36. Imagine you were gathered with the early disciples of Jesus when the risen Savior actually showed up in a closed room (Luke 24:36) no announcement, right in the middle of your conversation about the fact that people had seen Jesus alive! How do you think you might have responded?

  3. Why do you think this group of Jesus-followers thought it could be a ghost rather than the risen Jesus? What was getting in the way of their seeing Jesus for who He was?

  4. Why did Jesus work so hard to show them who He really was? What has Jesus done to help you recognize Him and embrace Him as the risen and living Messiah?

  5. Read: Luke 24:37-49. How has reading the Bible helped you clarify who Jesus was and is? Why is regular Bible-reading so important for God’s people today?

  6. What has God done to help you grow in peace and confidence in Jesus?

  7. Jesus is the source of forgiveness. Why is it so important for us to receive Jesus’ forgiveness and share it with others?

  8. How do you see the Holy Spirit at work in your life? What can you do to be more open to and responsive to the work and leading of the Spirit?
