Memorize and Reflect

“And, whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” ([bible]Colossians 3:17[/bible])

Prayer Direction

Be willing to engage in a search. Ask God to show you what you are to do to follow the mission of Jesus. What are the “good works” that he prepared for you? If you already know and are doing them, ask for continued strength and guidance to persevere.

“Live It!” Challenge

Start your journal (if you haven’t yet). Write about what it is you're doing for His sake, how it makes you feel, and how you see it working in the lives of others. If you’re still searching, commit to contacting a pastor, group leader, or wise Christian you know about helping you in the search and do that within 7 days.

Small Group Discussion

  1. When you think of grace, the unearned love God gives us through Jesus, how does it strike you? Does it inspire you? Are you simply accustomed to it?

  2. In your family growing up, were you shown the model of reaching out, doing “good works?” Describe what you witnessed, or if not in your family, another family you encountered.

  3. Read: Matthew 28: 19-2. What does “making a disciple” mean to you? How would you go about it?

  4. Read: 1 Corinthians 10: 24. Talk about just how we seek the good of others. Are there some people in your Jerusalem or Judea that you’ve held back from seeking their good? What is the resistance?

  5. With the good things you already do, is there a way to increase your Outreach temperature one degree? How?

  6. In knowing and following the mission of Jesus, where is your momentum taking you? Which direction? Do you sense spiritual maturing in this area?

  7. If you have thought you can’t find time to search for and do the “good works” God planned for you, how might you create time?
