Memorize and Reflect

But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. (Psalm 68:3)

Prayer Direction

Ask God for your pathway to holiness and ask Him to reveal the joy that comes with it. In your prayer also ask Him to show you where the joy is in your life right now. Give thanks where you can see Him supplying you as you walk in holiness. Ask Him to direct you towards the character of Jesus in all you think, say and do.

“Live It!” Challenge

Are there ways you are pursuing joy and happiness directly, outside of God's plan? If so, stop and honestly examine how that may not sync with God’s will for you. List the ways that is happening and commit to making a change. Be willing to turn away from anything that by-passes the direction of His Word, repent, and trust that His plan is still alive for you.

Small Group Discussion

  1. What comes up when you consider that you belong to God?

  2. Share the different paths available to you when making decisions and taking actions in daily life. How do they differ?

  3. Read: Hebrews 11: 24-26
How are pleasures of sin fleeting? What does that mean to you? What kinds of treasures tempt us today?

  4. Read: John 15: 9-11
How do we remain in the love of Jesus? Describe what “complete joy” means to you.

  5. How have you typically thought of happiness and joy? The same, different, unrelated at all?

  6. Being holy can seem above us and hard to relate to. Talk about what it might look like for you in daily life.
