Psalm 119:68 You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.Prayer Direction
Thank God the Father for His eternal goodness and wisdom. Thank Jesus the Son for HIs willingness to humble Himself and come in the flesh to rescue us. Thank God for the Holy Spirit for His work in your life to reveal the truth of God’s Word to you and the work of Jesus on your behalf. Invite Him to show you ways you can take steps to grow in goodness and wisdom this week and this year.“Live It!” Challenge
Extend Goodness and Wisdom: Pray and ask God to show you a person or family who may be walking through a difficult time of life or facing a difficult decision. Schedule a time to meet with them, listen to them, and pray for them.Small Group Discussion
When you hear the phrase “God is Good”, what comes to your mind? It is easy to say that when things are going well, but more difficult when they are not.
Read: Psalm 34:8 and Psalm 119:68. According to these verses, who is the origin of good, and what is the outcome for those who seek Him?
Read: Romans 8:28-29 How does God’s goodness and wisdom intersect in these verses? What is the ultimate good for us, as described in verse 29?
How has this verse spoken to you in your life?
Read: Philippians 2:6-8. How did Jesus demonstrate both goodness and wisdom in His incarnation and willingness to go to the cross on our behalf?
Reflecting on this week’s message, what is one way you can grow in goodness and wisdom? Be specific and ask your group to pray for you.
