Memorize and Reflect

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Prayer Direction

Pray for a fresh movement of the Spirit of God in your heart, home, and our church. Ask the Spirit to tune you in to recognize when He is moving, working, and whispering. Ask for power and anointing on each person who preaches in this sermon series over the coming weeks.

“Live It!” Challenge

Fruits and gifts Take time to learn more about the gifts and the fruit of the Spirit. Read Galatians 5:22-26; 1 Corinthians 12; and Romans 12.

Small Group Discussion

  1. What is your favorite sequel? (feel free to do a quick Google search on best movie sequels) How did part two of this movie franchise expand the story?

  2. How is the book of Acts the continuing story of Jesus, even though Jesus died at the end of part one of the story (The Book of Luke) and ascended to heaven at the start of Acts?

  3. Read: Isaiah 11:1-3 and Matthew 28:19-20. How do you see the Trinity at work in these passages and through the Bible, history, and in your life?

  4. What unique and wonderful roles does the Holy Spirit play in our spiritual lives?

  5. Read: John 16:13-14. Why is it important that we recognize that the Holy Spirit is a person and not a thing or impersonal force? How have you experienced the Holy Spirit at work in your life in a personal way?

  6. Read: Acts 2:1-1 and John 14:25-26. What are ways the Holy Spirit teaches followers of Jesus? Tell about a time you read the Bible and felt the Holy Spirit speaking directly to you.

  7. Read: 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 and 6:19-20. In the Old Testament the Spirit came on people for specific works and ministries, but He did not live in the people. How has this changed since Pentecost (Acts 2)? What difference does it make to know that the Holy Spirit is in us and always with us?

  8. Read: Acts 1:7-8. How have you experienced the power, conviction, or leading of the Holy Spirit as you seek to share the message of Jesus with people who are still far from the Savior?

  9. Who are you seeking to reach out to and share God’s love? How can your group members join you in asking the Holy Spirit to empower you in your personal outreach ministry?
