Memorize and Reflect

John 13:34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

Prayer Direction

Invite God to show you where and how he wants you to love like Jesus in serving others.

“Live It!” Challenge

Seek ways to step up and step in, serving others. If you’re already engaged, good job and keep it up! If not, intentionally seek opportunities and commit and dive in!

Small Group Discussion

  1. Read James 1:23-24 - When James describes “someone who looks at his face in the mirror….” How does this strike you? what does it mean?

  2. In our culture foot washing is rare. What welcoming traditions do you practice in your home, and if none, which ones could you begin practicing?

  3. Read John 13:34-35 - What ways do you love others?

  4. If you serve somewhere now, church or community, how did you get involved?

  5. Discuss how you would apply, “love is doing what you don’t want to do because you want to do it.”

  6. Share a meaningful experience you had while loving by serving others.

  7. How can the church grow in caring for its people?

  8. Share a time when the church, or other entity, stepped in and cared for you in a way that helped. In what ways did it inspire you in how you care for others?

  9. How does it strike you that Jesus “commands” us to care for the church?
