Matthew 22:39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’Prayer Direction
Ask God to help you see people like He sees them and love people the way He does. Confess where you have not loved people well (and where you have been unkind or thoughtless toward others). Pray for eyes to see the needs of others and for the power and love you need to care for them.“Live It!” Challenge
What Would Bless Me? – Make a list of five or six things others could do that would show love to you and really express that they love you like Jesus does. Then, take time to do one or two of these exact things for people God has placed in your life.Small Group Discussion
Tell about a person in your life who really shows the love of God to you. What are a couple of the things they do or say that really show you love?
Read: Matthew 22:34-40 and Leviticus 19:18. What does it mean to love others as you love yourself? Why do you think this is so important to Jesus?
Why do actions of compassion and mercy reveal the presence and love of God? What are ways we can show compassion to hurting people around us?
What kind of things cause us to become hard-hearted and look away from the needs of hurting people around us? What can we do to soften our hearts and care more for those who need the love of Jesus expressed through us?
Tell about someone in your life who has really spoken words of grace, encouragement, and blessing consistently into your life. How has God used this person to show His love to you?
Who is a person in your life that needs to hear words of blessing and kindness from you and what can you say that will lift their spirits and minister to their heart? How can your group members pray for you as you seek to show love to this person?
God has given us all minds that can dream, create, and innovate. What are some creative ways we can show love to people in our lives who need to experience God’s kindness through us?
We live in a tense and polarized time. Why do many people stop expressing love and care to others when it is exactly what they need? What can we do to press past our fears and anxiety and increase the way we express love to others?
