1 Peter 3:15But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
Prayer Direction
Read: Matthew 9:35-38. Thank Jesus for His love for you and for the entire world, that God loves every person in it. The harvest is still plentiful today!. Ask Him to show you simple steps you can take to live out His calling to pray. Pray for those close to you in your life that still are far from Jesus. Pray that the Lord of the harvest will send His people out into the world with the message of the “Good News” of the Gospel. And pray that He, in natural ways, would send you out and that the Holy Spirit would use you to reach those who don’t yet know Jesus.“Live It!” Challenge
Send Me Lord – Pause for a moment and ask God to show you who the top 3-10 people are in your life that need to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Now write these names down. How will you commit to pray for these people on a regular basis? Come up with a plan. What are some of the ways you could reach out to them showing God’s love with gentleness and respect? The sad fact is that only one in ten believers have ever lead someone else to saving faith in Christ in their entire lives which means that 90% of Christians keep their faith to themselves which was never what God intended. How else can you begin to step up to the plate and reach out to those who have not yet come to faith?Small Group Discussion
Who is one person that you have reached out to that didn’t yet know Jesus? Tell your group about that experience. Did it feel natural? What is/ was the result? Did this experience give you courage to reach out to someone again?
Read: 1 Peter 3:15. The scripture tells us to “Revere Christ as Lord.” How significant do you think this is in the outreach equation? Do you think the unbelieving world is watching? Do you feel prepared to give an answer for the hope that you have? What does it mean to do this with gentleness and respect?
Are you comfortable talking about God or spiritual things in your life like you talk about anything else with those who are not yet believers? What are some ways you can grow in this?
Read: Matthew 9:35-38. Do you think that the harvest is still plentiful? In what ways? Do you think the laborers are still few? Stop and pray with your group that the Lord of the harvest will send out workers to harvest. Are you willing to be one of those workers and will you pray, “Lord make me more willing and intentional?”
What might be some examples of reaching lost people that you could do personally? What might be some examples of reaching lost people that could be done through your family or with other Christian friends? What might be some examples of reaching lost people that could be done through your church?
Have you ever prayed with someone who has not yet come to know Jesus? If you were with someone who isn’t yet a believer in Jesus and you heard they had a specific difficulty or a need, do you think you could ask them if it would be okay to pray for them and then lead in a prayer? Are you willing to keep your “outreach antennae” up and give this a try at your next opportunity?
As you reflect on this week’s message, how might you share God’s love with others more intentionally? Be specific and ask your group to pray for you as you take the steps to do so.
