Pray for a sensitive heart and open eyes to see where there is impurity in your heart and life. Thank Jesus for cleansing you through His death, resurrection, and free gift of grace. Ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to resist sin, grow in holiness, and strive for purity.“Live It!” Challenge
Out with the Old – Prayerfully identify one area of your life where you are comfortable letting unholiness stay unquestioned and unchecked. Pray for power to reject this attitude or action and take a specific action to set this aside for the sake of growing in purity.Small Group Discussion
What are some of the impure attitudes, motives, and actions that are seen as acceptable or normal in our world today?
What are some of the possible consequences we might face if we allow these kinds of impurities to become part of our heart and life?
Read: 1 Peter 1:13-16. What are some of the ways impurity is more accessible and readily available in our world today? What are some specific and practical ways we can be “alert” and “sober “ so that we notice when the enemy is enticing us to live impure lives (in our thoughts, motives, hearts, and actions)?
Describe what we mean when we say, “God is holy.”
How can a person strive to be holy as the Lord our God is holy?
Read: 1 Peter 1:17-23. What is a reverent “fear of the Lord.” Why is fear of the Lord actually good for us as followers of Jesus?
What did God do and what price did Jesus pay so that we could be made holy and grow in purity? Why is it important that we remember these sacrifices as we seek to grow in purity?
How does obeying God’s truth become a pathway to purity? What is one truth in the Bible that you feel God is calling you to understand and follow at a deeper level?
How can your group members pray for you and cheer you on as you grow in purity?
