Memorize and Reflect

Luke 5:13
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.

Prayer Direction

Take time to thank God for the ways He has touched and healed you in the past (Physically, relationally, emotionally, spiritually…). Cry out for healing in your life in one area you long to see Him touch and change you. Pray for one friend or family member who needs a healing touch from God.

“Live It!” Challenge

A Story to Tell – When Jesus healed the man of his leprosy, he called him to go and share a testimony about his life change. Think about one specific area God has healed, delivered, or touched your life and you experienced a true life-makeover. Make a commitment to tell this story to one person in the coming week. Give a joyful testimony of the Extreme Makeover you have experienced because of the touch of Jesus!

Small Group Discussion

  1. If you have ever watched one of the “Makeover” or “Life-Changing” reality shows, tell about why you find the show so engaging and interesting. What is it about seeing life-change that seems to fire us up and bring us joy (even if it is in the life of someone we have never personally met)?

  2. Read: Luke 5:12-16. What are some of the things we learn about the man who was healed of leprosy (before he ever received the touch and restoration of Jesus)?

  3. Tell about a time you came to Jesus, cried out for His touch of healing in some area of your life. Describe how you experienced true life-transformation (physical, emotional, spiritual, relational, others areas.).

  4. Why do you think some people come to Jesus with authentic hope, confidence and faith? Why do you think other people resist Jesus and do not seek Him or invite Him to touch their life?

  5. Jesus heard the man with leprosy, gave His attention, touched him, and spoke to him. How did the action and words of Jesus show love, care, and dignity?

  6. Read: Luke 5:12-16. The topic of willingness comes through strongly in this account. The man was willing to seek out Jesus and ask for help. Jesus was willing to touch him and extend healing. How does our willingness factor into the healing process? How do you see Jesus willingly touch and transform people all through the four Gospel accounts?

  7. What is one area of your life where you need to feel the healing touch of Jesus today? How can your small group members pray for you and encourage you as you seek the healing touch and power of Jesus in this area of your life?

  8. Jesus called the man to go and share his testimony of life-change to the religious leaders of his day. Who is a person in your life that needs to hear a story of God’s healing power and glorious presence?

  9. How can you share a story from your life with this person? How can your group members pray for you as you seek to share your story of the touch of Jesus?
