Memorize and Reflect

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

Prayer Direction

Thank God for His faithfulness through your life, the past year, and the last week. Pray for strength to resist temptations in your life and thank God for granting you the power to resist… in advance. Pray for power to stay faithful to God in an area where you are growing weary.

“Live It!” Challenge

Remembering God’s Faithfulness: Think through the last year and write down five to ten ways God has been faithful to you and those you love. Reflect on each of these and ask God to help you live in faithfulness in response to His goodness.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Think through the life of Jesus recorded in the four gospels. What are some of the ways Jesus was faithful to His followers?

  2. How has God been faithful to you over the past weeks and months? How does God’s faithfulness inspire you to be faithful to Him?

  3. Read: John 13:1-17. When Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, how was He showing radical and underserved faithfulness? Who was at that table and what are some of the ways they had been unfaithful to Jesus?

  4. How does this make his act of faithful service even more powerful?

  5. Read: 1 Corinthians 10:13. What are some of the temptations Christians face today and what are some of the ways God faithfully provides opportunities to resist and run from them?

  6. Read: Psalm 23. How does this picture of God as our Good Shepherd reveal different ways God is faithful to His people (His sheep)?

  7. What are some of the idols that Christians can have in their lives? What are specific ways we can cast these down and throw them out?

  8. How can your group members pray for you as you seek to cast down specific idols that are in your life?

  9. What are some of the attitudes and cultural norms that seem to draw married people toward unfaithfulness? How can married people take steps toward deeper devotion and stronger faithfulness in their marriage relationships?

  10. Who are married people you care about that you can encourage to be faithful and pray for? How can you cheer them on in their efforts to be faithful to each other?
