Memorize and Reflect
until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:13)Prayer Direction
Thank God for His Word, the Bible, and ask for a heart that longs for deeper understanding of the Scriptures. Tell God five things you are thankful for today. Read 1 John 1:8-10 slowly. Then, spend time confessing where your thoughts, words, or actions have been out of line with His will. After you do this, thank God that he has cleansed you from all unrighteousness through the cross of Jesus.“Live It!” Challenge
Seven Days in a Row Make a commitment to read the Bible for the next seven days. Pick a time in your day, be consistent, and make it a priority. Each day, write down one thing you learn, one thing you will do, and share this with one person. If this impacts your week, do it again next week! If you are not sure what to read in the Bible, follow the Shoreline reading guide.Small Group Discussion
Tell about a person you know that leads a healthy life (in a way that encompasses all of who they are). What do you think makes this person’s life so healthy?
How does faith impact the health of your life? How do you think an increased and deeper faith would make your life even healthier?
Read: Ephesians 4:11-16 The apostle Paul paints a picture of a life that is so deep in faith that we begin to reflect “the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” What is one way your life would change if you were actually living in the “whole measure of the fullness of Christ”?
Read: Ephesians 2:8-9 How does living under spiritual guilt and legalism take away from spiritual health and freedom? How does living in the amazing grace of Jesus increase your spiritual health and joy?
Read: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 What are the five things this passages says that the Bible does for us? How do these help Christians lead a healthier life?
Tell a story about a time you read the Bible and God did one of these things in your life.
Respond to this statement: Thankful people are healthier than thankless people. What can we do to grow in thankfulness?
Read: 1 John 1:8-10 Why do you think that true confession and turning from sin lead to a healthier life? How can a refusal to repent or turn away from sinful patterns in our life take away our health and joy?
What place does Sabbath play in your life? How can we grow a consistent practice of resting on a weekly basis and what gets in the way of us doing this? What can you do to make sure weekly Sabbath is part of the rhythm of your life?
