Memorize and Reflect
Psalm 139:8-10If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
Prayer Direction
Lift up prayers of praise and celebration for God’s power, glory, and work in our world and your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you walk more and more closely with Jesus each and every day.“Live It!” Challenge
Expand Your Prayers – Make a point each day for the coming week to include a time of prayer to God for His infinite power, presence, and glory. Pray BIG and bold prayers! Then, thank God for being with you, in you, and deeply personal. Lift up the smallest details of your life and the needs of people you love. Do this, remembering that God holds the universe in His hands, and he also numbers the hairs on our heads!Small Group Discussion
Describe a time when you were amazed and overwhelmed by the vastness and glory of God’s infinite power. Or, tell about a time when God came near you in a very personal way and you sensed His intimate closeness.
Why is it important and very helpful to live each day aware that God is both Infinite (BIG, glorious, powerful, limitless) and also Immanent (Close, personal, involved and present)?
Read: Psalm 139:1-12. How do you see the bigness and power of God in this passage? How do these realities impact your confidence and peace levels?
Read: Psalm 139:13-18. How do you see the intimate closeness of God in this passage and how does it show you God’s engagement in the personal and small things of life?
Read: John 1:1-9. What do you learn about Jesus in this passage and His bigness, power, and infinite glory? How does it make you feel to know that this Jesus watches over you?
Read: John 4:4-10. What do you learn about Jesus in this very human and personal encounter with the woman at the well?
How can a deep and personal awareness of the infinite nature of our God lead you to greater worship and surrender to His will?
How can a deep and personal awareness of the imminent nature of our God lead you to greater worship and surrender to His will?
How can a daily awareness of God’s intimacy and closeness help you walk more closely with Jesus and follow him in your daily life?
