Memorize and Reflect

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control… (Galatians 5:22-23)

Prayer Direction

Take time to confess where you are lacking in growth in a specific fruit of the Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you, convict you, and empower you as you seek to grow character that looks more and more like Jesus with each passing year.

“Live It!” Challenge

Pick Two Take time to prayerfully identify one fruit of the Spirit that really needs to grow and be nurtured in your life. Identify a couple of simple daily practices that will help propel you forward in growth in this area of your spiritual journey. Ask at least one person to pray for you and keep you accountable in your growth goals in this area. Take time to identify one fruit of the Spirit that is consistently growing in your life. Set one goal for continued growth and use of this fruit for the glory of God!

Small Group Discussion

  1. What is something you measure on a regular basis (and why is it important or helpful to measure this)?

  2. How does a person’s character define so much about who they are and what they will do? How do you see character changing in American culture (how much do people talk about character and pay attention to developing good character)?

  3. Read: Galatians 5:22-23 What is one fruit of the Spirit that you see growing in you and how do you see this fruit blossoming? (by the way, it is not prideful to give God glory for the work of His Holy Spirit in you!)

  4. What is one fruit of the Spirit that you want to see grow more in your life? What step (or steps) can you take in the coming weeks to partner with God in seeing growth in this character trait in your life?

  5. How can your group members pray for you and support you as you seek to grow this character trait in your life?

  6. LOVE: What will our lives look like when the love of God is growing in our heart and life? What actions and attitudes increase? What actions and attitudes start to go away?

  7. PEACE: What will our lives look like when the peace of God’s Holy Spirit is invading and ruling in our heart and life? What actions and attitudes increase? What actions and attitudes start to go away?

  8. KINDNESS: What will our lives look like when kindness rules in our heart and life? What actions and attitudes increase? What actions and attitudes start to go away?

  9. GENTLENESS: What will our lives look like when gentleness is growing in our heart and life? What actions and attitudes increase? What actions and attitudes start to go away?

  10. SELF-CONTROL: What will our lives look like when Holy Spirit given self-control is growing in our heart and life? What actions and attitudes increase? What actions and attitudes start to go away?
