Memorize and Reflect

Genesis 1:27
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Prayer Direction

Thank God for His design of men and women as different, wonderful, and complementary. Pray for Christians to be an example to the world around them of how men and women can honor and celebrate who God has made us. Ask God to show you ways you can bless boys and girls in your life for how God has made them as male and female.

“Live It!” Challenge

I Love How God Has Made You – Take time this week to write a personal note to a young man or woman in your family or to someone who is close to you. Let them know that God has made them uniquely wonderful and that their masculinity or femininity is a true gift from God!

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a man in your life who has been a healthy and Jesus-honoring example of what it means to be male and manly in our world. Or, tell about a woman in your life who has been a healthy and Jesus-honoring example of what it means to be female and womanly in our world.

  2. Read: Genesis 1:26-31. What are ways we have been made in the very image of God? How can we celebrate this as God does?

  3. How can we embrace the way God has made us and honor God as men and women?

  4. When are ways the culture we live in is confused about males and females? Why is it important for Christians to hold to God’s plan and design of male and female?

  5. Read: Genesis 2:15-25. How did God give people freedom all the way back in the beginning?

  6. What did God have to say about consequences when we walk outside of the boundaries He established for us? Why do you think God gave such clear boundaries for the people He created?

  7. God looked at His creation of male and female and declared that it was “Very Good!” How can you affirm a boy or girl in your life and let them know that you celebrate the unique way God has made this person as male or female?

  8. Why is it so important for Christians to show compassion and care for people who are struggling with their identity and gender? How can we show grace and love without agreeing with people's confused choices when it comes to gender and sexuality?
