Prayer Direction
Thank Jesus for coming to earth and providing us with true and lasting peace with God through His life, death, and resurrection. Thank the Holy Spirit for His work in our life to help us experience the peace of God with others and within ourselves. Ask God to continue to sustain you with His peace as you navigate through this season. Ask Jesus to give you creative and fresh ways to extend peace to others, whether that is by sharing the gospel or inviting someone to church on Christmas Eve.“Live It!” Challenge
Be a Peacemaker: Spend some time with God in quiet prayer and invite Him to show you a relationship that needs greater peace. As God leads you, make a plan of action to connect with the person in a meaningful manner. Share your plan with one other person and ask them to pray for you and hold you accountable to make the time and take steps to extend peace to the person the Lord put on your heart.Small Group Discussion
Describe an experience you have had during a Christmas season that was both memorable and peaceful.
Read: Isaiah 9:6-7. What do we learn from these verses about the coming Messiah? How does Jesus fulfill these prophecies?
Read: Luke 2:1-14. What were the angel and the heavenly host communicating to the shepherds?
Read Romans 5:1. How did Jesus fulfill the angels' declarations?
Read: John 16:33 and John 14:27. What was Jesus reminding His disciples of about the world and His work?
How have you experienced the peace of Jesus this past year?
Read: Matthew 5:9. How does God bless us as we seek to make peace with others?
As you reflect on this week’s message, how might you experience and extend peace this next week? Be specific and ask your group to pray for you as you take the steps to do so.
