Memorize and Reflect

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Prayer Direction

Thank Jesus for being the truth and revealing truth to you by His Holy Spirit. Pray for ears to hear God’s truth, however He reveals it to you, and for power to live in God’s truth. Ask the Holy Spirit to convict you of places you are ignoring or resisting the truth.

“Live It!” Challenge

Past Lies – The devil is a liar by nature and the father of lies! (John 8:44). Take time this week to look back through your life and identify ways the enemy of your soul has lied to you (and you bought his lies for a time). Now, ask God to help you see if any of those lies are still alive in your heart and life. If so, confess this and pray for power to repent, turn, and resist these lies.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a time as a child when you were taught or believed something that was not true. How did you feel and respond when you found out what was really true?

  2. Tell about when you first realized that Jesus was the Truth of heaven and the one who could set you free from all lies (from the enemy, from the world, and from yourself!).

  3. Read: John 14:1-7. Why does it matter that Jesus always spoke the truth? What truth is Jesus declaring in John 14:1-4?

  4. When Jesus declares that He is the truth that points people to heaven, why does the world still need this truth? If a person embraces Jesus as the Truth and follows Him as Savior, how should their life and eternity change?

  5. When we live every day with a deep and profound confidence that heaven is our final home and our perfect destination, how can this increase our boldness as we tell others that Jesus is the “way, the truth, and the life”?

  6. Read: John 8:31-32. How have you experienced the truth (Jesus) setting you free?

  7. How have you experienced the truth Jesus brought (the written Word of Scripture) setting you free? Share one passage from the Bible that has really revealed God’s truth in your life and set you free from some kind of bondage or spiritual prison.

  8. Read: 3 John 2-4. What does it mean to walk in the truth? Give an example of walking in the truth.

  9. What does it mean to walk and live in falsehood? Give an example of walking in the falsehood could look like.

  10. What are practical ways we can resist walking in the lies of the world and grow in our ability to walk in the truth of Jesus?
