Memorize and Reflect

1 Peter 1:15-16 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Prayer Direction

Thank God for bringing His holiness into our impure and unholy world. Pray for eyes to see places where you need to grow in holiness. Ask for power to walk and live in holiness.

“Live It!” Challenge

Growing in Holiness – Prayerfully identify one or two areas in your life where you need to grow in holiness. What do you need to stop? What do you need to begin? Ask one or two close friends to pray for you as you seek to make changes in your life that will grow holiness in you.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a Christian you know and respect who seems to really live a holy life. What do they do that grows holiness in them? What do they avoid or refuse to do that helps them avoid impurity?

  2. Read: Isaiah 6:1-8 How do you see the holiness of God in this passage?

  3. How should we respond in the presence of God’s holiness?

  4. Why does our world seem to avoid ideas like holiness and purity? What can we do to focus more on the holiness of God?

  5. Read: 1 Peter 1:13-16What are some of the ways Christians are tempted to conform to the evil desires and actions of this world?

  6. What are examples of holiness in the lives of Christians in our world today? How do people in our world (who are not followers of Jesus) tend to respond to people who really seek to live a holy life?

  7. Read: 2 Corinthians 7:1 What are steps we can take to purify ourselves from things that can contaminate our life and soul? What is an area you need to grow in holiness and how can your group members pray for you as you seek to take steps deeper into a holy life?

  8. Read: Hebrews 12:14-16. What are steps we can take to live in peace with the people around us? How does a peace-filled life help us live a holy life?

  9. When we live with increasing holiness, how can this become a witness to people who know us but are not yet followers of Jesus? How can unholy behavior in the life of a Christian drive people away from Jesus?

  10. How can your group members pray for each other and cheer one another on to grow in holiness?
