Memorize and Reflect

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8
Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, 8 so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.

Prayer Direction

Thank God for the people he has placed in your life who are tender, kind, and model the mercy of Jesus. Ask God to grow the fruit of the Spirit in your life with a special focus on patience, kindness and gentleness.

“Live It!” Challenge

Compassion Ministry – Most churches have care ministries for needy people. Take time to contact Shoreline Church (online or by phone) and learn more about our compassion and care ministries. Make time in the next couple of weeks to volunteer in one of these ministries to serve those in need.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a believer you know who is kind, gracious, and tender-hearted. How does this person model the heart and spirit of Jesus?

  2. Read: Acts 7:54-8:3 and Acts 9:1-2. If you were to describe Saul's heart, actions, and disposition before he met Jesus, what kind of person would you say he was? What marked his life?

  3. If someone knew you before you were a follower of Jesus, how would they describe you in terms of your more negative pre-Jesus qualities and attitudes?

  4. What do you think you would be like if you were not a follower of Jesus? How would your life be different?

  5. Read: Acts 9:1-9. How did Jesus encounter, wake up, and begin a work of transformation in the life of Saul?

  6. How did you meet and encounter Jesus and what are ways you woke up to your need for His grace and salvation?

  7. Read: 1 Thessalonians 2:7-12. What are some ways Saul (Paul) was a changed man after truly encountering Jesus?

  8. What are some of the ways your life has changed since you decided to really follow Jesus’ plan and will for your life?

  9. What is an area God is still seeking to grow kindness, gentleness, and compassion in your life and how can your group members pray for you as you seek to grow in this area of your life?
