Memorize and Reflect
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.Prayer Direction
Pray for people you love who do not know Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to draw them close to the heart of the Savior. Also, pray for yourself as you seek to be generous with your resources, kind words, acts of service, and sharing the gospel.“Live It!” Challenge
100/100 – Take time to write your testimony in 100 words or less. Simply write down how you came to hear the story of God’s amazing grace given through Jesus and how receiving and living in this grace has changed your life! Next, write the story of God’s good news (the gospel) in 100 words or less. Be sure to include Jesus’ birth, perfect life, death on the cross for your sins, resurrection, and offer of His grace. Finally, practice sharing each of these with yourself out loud and even with a Christian friend. If God opens the door, also share this with a non-believing friend or family member.Small Group Discussion
Tell about a very generous Christian you have known. What did they do and how did they live? How did their life reflect the heart of Jesus and reveal His presence?
How have you seen yourself grow in generosity (of all kinds) as you have grown in your relationship with Jesus and become more like your Savior?
Read: Matthew 6:19-21 - What are some of the earthly treasures we can be tempted to “store up” and why do you think Jesus warns us against this practice? What earthly treasure is most enticing for you and what can you do to guard against spending too much time, energy, or finances on this treasure?
Read: Matthew 6:19-21 - What lasts forever? What are some specific and practical ways we can store up treasures in heaven?
How does living a generous life (in every way) open the door for us to share the message of Jesus? How does a generous lifestyle show people the presence and goodness of our Savior?
Read: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 - What does it mean to sow generously? What are practical ways we can use our financial resources for the glory of Jesus?
How can a self-centered life compromise our witness and give people the wrong idea about who Jesus is?
How does a generous life actually free us to be more engaged with our faith, more kind to non-believers, and more intentional in sharing the love and message of Jesus with other people?
What is one next step you can take to grow in generosity and shine the light of Jesus (the most generous being in the universe)?
