1 Thessalonians 5:16-18“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Prayer Direction
Close your eyes at least once in the morning and ask Jesus to “be my anchor” in whatever the day brings. Ask him for security and safety.“Live It!” Challenge
Build Jesus in as an “on board” element of your life, the way a boater always has an anchor on the boat. Have an anchor symbol easy to see at home, at work, in your car, to remind yourself of how he anchors us.Small Group Discussion
Have you ever felt “adrift” in your life? Share with the group. What happened next- how did it work out?
What are the toughest storms you’ve been through? Where were you with God at that time?
The rope attached to an anchor is often seen as the Bible. How does God’s Word act as a rope in this way?
Share what “steadfast” means to you, what “hope” means to you.
Read: John 14:19-20. How does it work that Jesus is in his Father, he is in us and we are in him?
Where are you with trusting Jesus to be our anchor? Firm, shaky, depends on the situation, not sure?
Read: Isaiah 41:10. Have you ever thought that Jesus might be dismayed with you? Share your thinking.
Give your views on just how He gives us strength, helps us, and how his righteous right hand works for us.
