Memorize and Reflect

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” ([bible]John 11:25-26[/bible])

Prayer Direction

Thank God for the power of the resurrection of Jesus that fills your heart and life, if you are a follower of the Savior. Praise Jesus for giving His life, for dying in your place, for taking your sin and shame, and for rising in glory and drawing you to himself.

“Live It!” Challenge

Tell the Story: Take time this Easter Weekend and read the story of Jesus’ death for our sins and resurrection in power and glory. If you gather with family or friends, read the story from one of the Gospels and share what the resurrection of Jesus means to you. The story is at the end of all four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). You decide which account you want to read.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about when you accepted and put your faith in the resurrected Jesus. What helped you make this bold and life changing decision.
If you have not yet embraced Jesus as your resurrected Lord, what is keeping you from making this step of faith?

  2. Read: John 11:1-45
How did Jesus respond to the news of Lazarus’ condition and why do you think He was not more urgent?

  3. How did Mary and Martha respond to Jesus when he arrived in Bethany and what do we learn about their faith in Jesus? How have you seen some of Mary or Martha’s outlook in yourself when you face times of loss and struggle?

  4. What do you learn about Jesus, who He is, and His power in this passage? What are some of the emotions of Jesus that surface in this passage and what do these emotions teach you about the Savior?

  5. Read: Matthew 27:62-28:10
Imagine you had been at the tomb with Mary and Mary on the first day of the week and you had seen all they saw. What would you have been telling your friends after that experience?

  6. Jesus is risen today and He is alive and working in the lives of His children. What can you tell others about Jesus, the risen Lord in light of what He is doing in your life?

  7. Read: 1 Corinthians 15:35-58
What does this passage teach us about the hope and reality of the resurrection for all who have placed their faith in Jesus?

  8. What does this passage teach about the victory of Jesus over sin, death, and the grave? How should these truths impact the way we live each day of our lives?
