Prayer Direction

Spend time praying for:
- Eyes to see and a heart to appreciate the beauty of His creation.
- The gift and blessing of the people God has placed in your life.
- The value and good parts of technology.
- Eyes to see some of the dangers of too much connection to technology and the power to shut it down and enjoy other gifts God has given.

“Live It!” Challenge

Try a Technology Fast – Try setting aside two or three evenings in a week and shut down your computer, Tablet, and even your phone. Find other things to do on your own and with other people in your home. You might just find yourself talking, laughing, and playing games with family members.

Small Group Discussion

  1. What is one thing about technology you are thankful for and what is one concern you have about it?

  2. Read: Ephesians 5:15-17. What are some of the ways technology can become addictive and take up too much of our time if we are not careful?

  3. How can being consumed with social media, games, watching shows, and other elements of technology get in the way of us living fully for Jesus?

  4. Read: 1 Peter 1:13-16. Christians are called to have holy lives and minds. What are some of the ways that media can get in the way of us growing in holiness or even lead us down paths that are unholy?

  5. What are some boundaries and limitations we can place on what we view that can help us guard our hearts and minds from impure and unholy thinking (and even actions)?

  6. Read: Psalm 8 How can plugging into creation and God’s good gifts help us limit our engagement with technology and lead to a more meaningful life?

  7. What are ways we can enjoy the world God has made and really delight in creation, including people made in the image of God?

  8. Read: Psalm 19:1-6. How does creation reveal the presence and glory of God? What might we miss out on if we are always connected to a screen and not delighting in the beauty of all God has made?

  9. What is the next step you can take to unplug from technology and plug into God’s creation?
