Memorize and Reflect

The astrologers answered the king, “There is no one on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer. What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans.” (Daniel 2:10-11)

Prayer Direction

Ask God to grow your faith in His ability to lead you through the hard times of life. Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of how God has done great and amazing things in the past. Lift up praise for the miracles, answers to prayer, and surprising things you have watched God do in your past.

“Live It!” Challenge

Write it Down: Identify a time in your past that God showed up and did something that seemed impossible to you. Write down three or four reasons God is worthy of your praise and be specific. What has He done? How has His power been revealed? Take time to give Him glory…in writing. Then, share these words with another believer and ask them how they have seen God do great things.

Small Group Discussion

  1. Tell about a time you saw God do something surprising, amazing, or what seemed impossible to you.

  2. How does remembering God’s miracles and amazing works from the past give us hope for the future? Why is it important that we share stories like this with other believers and with non-believers?

  3. Read: Daniel 2:1-11. What do you learn about the king in this story? What do you learn about his advisors and astrologers?

  4. Read: Daniel 2:12-23. What did Daniel do in this unfair and dangerous situation? What can you learn from his example?

  5. Why is a cool head and a clear plan needed in a time of crisis? How can we be cool and calm in the national situation we are all facing right now?

  6. Read: Daniel 2:24-49. How did Daniel keep giving God the glory even when people wanted to praise him? What are ways we can deflect praise to God and keep it off of us?

  7. How did Nebuchadnezzar’s dream actually put him in his proper place and lift up God? What was God saying to the king (and to us) through this dream?

  8. What is a tough situation you are facing that seems hopeless and impossible? What actions can you learn from the example of Daniel and what steps can you take to face this situation with faith-filled confidence?

  9. How can your small group members pray for you and help you as you walk through this season?
