Proverbs 3:5-6Are you learning to submit your ways to Jesus over leaning on your own understanding? What does this mean to you? How does this help you to trust in the Lord with ALL your heart?
Prayer Direction
Praise God that He is willing to lead you and that He loves you enough to watch over you. Thank Him for His trustworthiness and that He has your life in the palm of His hand. Ask Him to draw you close to Him and bring you to a place where you know and trust Him even more.“Live It!” Challenge
Self Evaluation: Hope and Joy - Read: Luke 19:28-40 and Luke 23:1-25 The people following Jesus were overflowing with Joy and Hope. What went wrong? Jesus didn’t fulfill their expectations for their circumstances to change? What did Jesus come to change? Are there times you have had expectations that didn’t come to pass? How is it different if our expectancy is only that God’s will be done? What is currently happening in your life this week that, rather than hoping for a certain outcome, you can expect God to take care of it in His own way? Pray that your trust in him will grow as He dictates the outcome.Small Group Discussion
Why does it seem so natural for us to come up with our own thoughts and ideas for the solution to our problems and difficulties rather than turning to Jesus for the answers? What can you do to turn to Him more readily?
What is the difference between having our own expectations and expecting God to work through our lives for our best and for His Glory? What is the benefit of trusting Him rather than having our own expectations?
James 1:2 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.” We don’t usually think of trials as bringing joy. How does this come about? When have you experienced joy while working through a trial?
What does it mean to you to trust God with all of your heart? What does trust look like? What steps can you take to learn to trust Him more?
Hope seems to be in short supply in our world today. Share about ways that your faith in Jesus brings you lasting hope. How do you bring this same hope to friends and family?
Share about a difficulty or trial that you have been through that looked like you had no way out, but God intervened and brought you through. How did that grow your faith?
Have you ever experienced Joy while sharing your faith with someone who didn’t yet have faith in Jesus? What was that experience like, and how did it bring you joy?
